What is meditation? It is a process of thought and concentration, which reduces stress, worries and obesity. People, who are conscious about their weight, do meditation to the fat of their body. Meditation is safe, healthy and affordable. Meditation is a component of yoga from past 50000 years.

Meditation increases the energy level present in the human body. There are many people who meditate in the morning to reduce their anxieties, stress and like to remain strong and fit. It is both complex and simple. Meditation is about looking at an object and then describing about it.
Some of the steps one should follow while meditating:

• Kneel or sit comfortably.

• The hands to be kept loose and opened with the palms, one on the top of other and the thumb touching lightly.

• The head should be upright, eyes must be closed or open and if they are opened, they should be focused either on your hands or a spot.

• While meditating, a person should breathe in a relaxed and natural way. The beginner meditators should count the number of times they exhale. This is to be repeated again and again.

• This process needs to be continued for at least 15 minutes.

Meditation As A Means Of Relaxation And Spiritual Exploration

"I find meditation a great way to relax and spiritually explore my inner self". If I'd said that to anyone about two months ago I would have felt really embarrassed. I guess spiritual exploration has a way of changing things.

Meditation gives us an understanding of the universe and its power. The power and energy that we have, and how to channel it towards great benefits. Lately I signed up for a meditation course which I have found extremely beneficial for the health of my body, spirit and mind.

Meditation has helped me personally overcome much confusion and anxiety I once had. I feel renewed and refreshed. Its almost as if my old self disintegrated and made way for the new me. The true me.

This experience and the experiences following it have opened my eyes to the possibilities of the universe.

I have discovered so much. So much about the universe, so much about human nature and most importantly so much about myself.

Its a sad thought to think many of our kind live their whole lives without discovering their inner self; their true self. We need to come together and understand one another. We need to find ourselves buried deep below the surface. We need to realize that all problems and issues can be addressed. We need to understand the cosmos (everything).

To many this may sound like a daunting task, but whats the best way to eat an elephant?

One bite at a time.

I suggest you put time aside each day to explore your mind. Explore your thoughts.

Buddhist Breath Meditation - Seven Steps

Phra Ajaan Lee Dhammadharo explains fundamental Buddhist breath meditation that can not only lead directly to enlightenment, but on the way cure emotional, psychological and physical ailments. (The words in quotation marks have been changed in the text to clarify the instructions).

1. Start out with three or seven long in-&-out breaths, thinking "boo" with the in-breath, and "doe" with the out. Keep the meditation syllable as long as the breath, "i.e.; in breath; boooooooo, out breath; dooooooe. (If you prefer, you can skip all instructions below and simply use this simple technique which if done with unwavering awareness for some time, can take you into the deepest Samadhi)."

2. Be clearly aware of each in-&-out breath.

3. Observe the breath as it goes in & out, noticing whether it's comfortable or uncomfortable, broad or narrow, obstructed or free-flowing, fast or slow, short or long, warm or cool. If the breath doesn't feel comfortable, change it until it does. For instance, if breathing in long & out long is uncomfortable, try breathing in short & out short. As soon as you find that your breathing feels comfortable, let this comfortable breath sensation spread to the different parts of the body.

To begin with, inhale the breath sensation at the base of the skull and let it flow all the way down the spine. Then, if you are male, let it spread down your right leg to the sole of your foot, to the ends of your toes, and out into the air. Inhale the breath sensation at the base of the skull again and let it spread down your spine, down your left leg to the ends of your toes, and out into the air. (If you are female, begin with the left side first, because the male & female nervous systems are different.)

Then let the breath from the base of the skull spread down over both shoulders, past your elbows & wrists, to the tips of your fingers, and out into the air.

Let the breath at the base of the throat spread down the central nerve at the front of the body, past the lungs & liver, all the way down to the bladder & colon.

Inhale the breath right at the middle of the chest and let it go all the way down to your intestines.

Let all these breath sensations spread so that they connect & flow together, and you'll feel a greatly improved sense of well-being.

4. Learn four ways of adjusting the breath:

a. in long & out long,b. in long & out short,c. in short & out long,d. in short & out short.

Breathe whichever way is most comfortable for you. Or, better yet, learn to breathe comfortably all four ways, because your physical condition & your breath are always changing.

5. Become acquainted with the bases or focal points for the mind -- the resting spots of the breath -- and center your awareness on whichever one seems most comfortable. A few of these bases are:

a. the tip of the nose,b. the middle of the head,c. the palate,d. the base of the throat,e. the breastbone (the tip of the sternum),f. the navel (or a point just above it).

If you suffer from frequent headaches or nervous problems, don't focus on any spot above the base of the throat. And don't try to force the breath or put yourself into a trance. Breathe freely & naturally. Let the mind be at ease with the breath -- but not to the point where it slips away.

6. Spread your awareness -- your sense of conscious feeling -- throughout the entire body.

7. Unite the breath sensations throughout the body, letting them flow together comfortably, keeping your awareness as broad as possible. Once you are fully aware of the aspects of the breath you already know in your body, you'll come to know all sorts of other aspects as well. The breath, by its nature, has many facets: breath sensations flowing in the nerves, those flowing around & about the nerves, those spreading from the nerves to every pore. Beneficial breath sensations & harmful ones are mixed together by their very nature.

To summarize: (a) for the sake of improving the energy already existing in every part of your body, so that you can contend with such things as disease & pain; and (b) for the sake of clarifying the knowledge already within you, so that it can become a basis for the skills leading to release & purity of heart -- you should always bear these seven steps in mind, because they are absolutely basic to every aspect of breath meditation.

Unusual Meditations Techniques You've Never Heard of

Meditation is a very personal thing. When my Empath and Intuitive skills went "live", I was overwhelmed with information and soooooooooooooo many people recommended meditation.

But I hated meditation...No kidding! Just sitting there, trying not to think of pink elephants. It was like a refined form of torture and, worst of all, oh so boring...

The answer came from one of my Spirit Guides one day. He suggested I try a mediation that involved watching movies. Huh? Does that count, I wondered... Since then, my guides have come up with all kinds of unusual meditation techniques that work for me, and now I love it.

Since I am an engineer, things make sense to me when they have a purpose. In my life, meditation is an processing activity, like a computer that needs some time to open up Word or to connect to the Internet. Computers also needs processing time when turning off, to cleanly organize all the new data that has been created.

When I meditate, I keep my left brain out of the way so that my right brain can process all the information I've been receiving (the right brain handles creative, intuitive and abstract data). When I'm done, my mind-computer is responsive again and I'm not just staring at the little hourglass, waiting for the processing to complete before I get my answer!

These are my two favorite meditations techniques. Try them out and feel free to tweak them! Remember that meditation is supposed to feel good.

The Movie Meditation:

1) Select a movie and set your intention to "meditate" while you are watching it.

2) As soon as you start watching, your brain will do what needs to be done to start processing. Even if you don't know what that involves, your brain does! Just like your brain knows how to keep your body functioning while you think of something else.

Movies are great because they keep your left brain busy, leaving the right brain free to go in processing mode. This is a lot easier than trying to turn down your left brain!

3) After the movie, take a moment to "reboot" your mind-computer. Do you get a message? What thoughts pop into your mind? This is a great time for profoundly creative ideas to come up so make sure you're listening! And take notes, if you feel so inclined! They'll be priceless!

The Cat Meditation

You know how some people take "cat naps"? A few minutes here and there and they're all refreshed! I've noticed that processing doesn't have to be done all at once in a gruesome 1 hour session. Your brain always knows where it left off processing and it can continue at any time!

The Cat Meditation is a series of very short meditations (and by short I mean that 5 seconds is enough!) that you can easily do without needing to stop the flow of your day. Over time, I have found that I was yearning for longer processing time without ever having to force it.

1) In the Cat Meditation, you're actually turning down your left brain for a brief period. This is different than the Movie Meditation, where you keep your left brain busy in order to facilitate processing. To do this, just imagine a blank screen in your mind. Like you're watching a movie screen but the movie hasn't started yet.

2) Keep it short! For most of us, it won't be long before you start seeing thing (or hearing things) on your blank screen. By then, your left brain has started being active again so you're done!
tip: If you can't keep the screen blank (it's ok, I had a hard time with that at first), try counting to 10. Your left brain might be more willing to stay quiet if you give it a little something to do at first.

3) Here are some great ways to practice this:- Do a Cat Meditation while reading a book each time you turn a page- Do a Cat Meditation while watching TV on the first commercial (mute the TV first!)- Do a Cat Meditation when you get in the car every morning- Do a Cat Meditation when you start to brush your teeth!

Meditation For Spiritual Healing

You were born with the ability to transform the landscape of your life.

You have the ability to benefit from the challenges you are living and to advance even further toward the fulfillment of your desires because of them. With practice, your problems can become no more than springboards into greater satisfaction in your life.

Spiritual Healing creates results that would seem impossible through other methods. The list of possibilities is longer than I can fit in this small article. Here is a sample:

· Instantaneous relief from chronic pain.

· Financial recovery after difficult times.

· Finding a soul mate after years of loneliness.

· Harmony and respect in a previously conflicted relationship.

· Feeling at home in one's world after a sense of alienation.

· Feeling appreciated and valued after feeling judged and ignored.

These and more benefits can be yours and you don't need to buy anything nor seek the help of any other human being.

Methods

There are many methods for accessing spiritual healing. Within all spiritual traditions you will find esoteric teachings that can unlock this mystery for you. The meditation I describe below is simply one of many possibilities along the journey of self-healing. I offer it to you here in the spirit of love and service.

This is a very simple technique for the purpose of our brief encounter as you read this article. Simplicity is often the most potent ingredient in a healing formula, so please don't dismiss the power of this technique because of its brevity or because I offer it here for free. I expect you to get results when you follow these instructions and you can share this method with your loved ones who are suffering in any way.

Love-Light Meditation

1 - Sit Upright.

To those who currently may feel weak, ill, or disabled and must lie down, that is okay. Otherwise, please sit upright for best results.

2 - Invite the Divine Presence

Invite the Divine Presence (in whatever way is natural to you and your culture, religion, or tradition) to assist you in your healing.

3 - Love-Light

Imagine a beam of light running through your spine. Let that light be made of love. See that light extending infinitely above and below you. Allow it to align you with the center of the earth and the expanse of heaven. Feel yourself nurtured and taken care of by this love-light.

4 - Focused Light

Imagine a campfire or a sun in your belly made of this same light.

5 - Expanded Light

Let the light expand to include your whole body.

6 - Love-Light Replaces the Problem

Since a problem cannot live in the space of this love-light, imagine anything that you perceive as a problem pouring out of you. In your imagination you may see it come out of you through your breath or your pores or in any other imagined way. It may look like smoke being pressed out by the light. You may see it as a stream of viruses pouring out of an infected area leaving that area clean and pure. It may take the appearance of snakes or worms squirming away from the light. Do not get interested in the form it takes. Let it go completely and keep the love-light steady and glowing throughout the length of your body with a concentration at your navel. Feel the soothing and comforting nature of this light. Feel your entire body-mind-energy field refreshed, cleaned, beautified, and purified.

7 – Appreciation

When your session feels complete (a few minutes should be sufficient) give thanks to the Divine Source of this goodness and visualize a joyful outcome on this subject. Trust that your healing is underway.

Now, in your everyday life, begin to shift more of your attention to your joyful harmonious expressiveness (jhe) than to your problem. Speak less of your problem and more of the good that is coming your way. Feel it. Know it. Trust it.

Watch for solutions as they come to you through the attractive force of your love-light. They may come as inspired thoughts or as offerings from others. Acknowledge and appreciate any manifestations - even if they are small at first-of the fulfillment of your desire. Do not be bothered by how long it takes. With this simple daily practice you begin your spiritual healing and you advance your spiritual journey.
