Meditation For Spiritual Healing

By Dr Rebbie Straubing

You were born with the ability to transform the landscape of your life.

You have the ability to benefit from the challenges you are living and to advance even further toward the fulfillment of your desires because of them. With practice, your problems can become no more than springboards into greater satisfaction in your life.

Spiritual Healing creates results that would seem impossible through other methods. The list of possibilities is longer than I can fit in this small article. Here is a sample:

· Instantaneous relief from chronic pain.

· Financial recovery after difficult times.

· Finding a soul mate after years of loneliness.

· Harmony and respect in a previously conflicted relationship.

· Feeling at home in one's world after a sense of alienation.

· Feeling appreciated and valued after feeling judged and ignored.

These and more benefits can be yours and you don't need to buy anything nor seek the help of any other human being.

Methods

There are many methods for accessing spiritual healing. Within all spiritual traditions you will find esoteric teachings that can unlock this mystery for you. The meditation I describe below is simply one of many possibilities along the journey of self-healing. I offer it to you here in the spirit of love and service.

This is a very simple technique for the purpose of our brief encounter as you read this article. Simplicity is often the most potent ingredient in a healing formula, so please don't dismiss the power of this technique because of its brevity or because I offer it here for free. I expect you to get results when you follow these instructions and you can share this method with your loved ones who are suffering in any way.

Love-Light Meditation

1 - Sit Upright.

To those who currently may feel weak, ill, or disabled and must lie down, that is okay. Otherwise, please sit upright for best results.

2 - Invite the Divine Presence

Invite the Divine Presence (in whatever way is natural to you and your culture, religion, or tradition) to assist you in your healing.

3 - Love-Light

Imagine a beam of light running through your spine. Let that light be made of love. See that light extending infinitely above and below you. Allow it to align you with the center of the earth and the expanse of heaven. Feel yourself nurtured and taken care of by this love-light.

4 - Focused Light

Imagine a campfire or a sun in your belly made of this same light.

5 - Expanded Light

Let the light expand to include your whole body.

6 - Love-Light Replaces the Problem

Since a problem cannot live in the space of this love-light, imagine anything that you perceive as a problem pouring out of you. In your imagination you may see it come out of you through your breath or your pores or in any other imagined way. It may look like smoke being pressed out by the light. You may see it as a stream of viruses pouring out of an infected area leaving that area clean and pure. It may take the appearance of snakes or worms squirming away from the light. Do not get interested in the form it takes. Let it go completely and keep the love-light steady and glowing throughout the length of your body with a concentration at your navel. Feel the soothing and comforting nature of this light. Feel your entire body-mind-energy field refreshed, cleaned, beautified, and purified.

7 – Appreciation

When your session feels complete (a few minutes should be sufficient) give thanks to the Divine Source of this goodness and visualize a joyful outcome on this subject. Trust that your healing is underway.

Now, in your everyday life, begin to shift more of your attention to your joyful harmonious expressiveness (jhe) than to your problem. Speak less of your problem and more of the good that is coming your way. Feel it. Know it. Trust it.

Watch for solutions as they come to you through the attractive force of your love-light. They may come as inspired thoughts or as offerings from others. Acknowledge and appreciate any manifestations - even if they are small at first-of the fulfillment of your desire. Do not be bothered by how long it takes. With this simple daily practice you begin your spiritual healing and you advance your spiritual journey.

The Mandala Cure: Releaving Anxiety through Meditation

By Michelle Normand

Whether you know it or not you are probably quite familiar with mandalas. If you have gazed upon a magnificent rose window adorning a local cathedral or spent time enjoying a fragrant spring daisy, then you have already been touched by the beauty of a mandala.

Sanskrit for sacred circle, mandalas are an ancient art form dating back to Tibet over 2,500 years ago. The Tibetan Monks saw the mandala as more than a circle divided into an ornate design, they saw it as a representation of the Universe; a blend of different symbols and colors coming together, bonded by its center, to form in harmony.

Look at the Christian’s usage of the labyrinth or marvel at the mandala healing ceremony performed by American Indians and you will find that the sacred circle has transcended its ancient roots. Many present-day religions and civilizations have come to view the mandala, with its gentle symmetry, as a symbol of the balance in nature, the unity within the world, and the harmony we all seek within our lives. Even the world renowned psychologist and founder of analytical psychology, Carl Jung was struck by the healing abilities of the mandala. Jung went on to write many papers about the subject and regularly used mandalas as a healing tool with his patients. Now this same restorative power is in your hands.

Coloring or creating mandalas is a simple process. Basically a form of active meditation, you suspend your inner dialogue while you draw images on a page or color a pre-made design. As with any form of active meditation you will be able to achieve the same calm, peaceful effects of traditional meditation without the difficulties of sitting still for hours at a time or trying to empty your racing mind. By meditating on a mandala, specifically the center of the design, a person can easily be drawn into the circle to find their focus, and most importantly keep that focus. Great for beginners or anyone short on time, mandala coloring books are a great way to introduce yourself to this healing process.

Coloring mandalas is a peaceful pastime used by a variety of peoples and institutions to heal the mind and the body. Today you will find mandala coloring and creation being used in nursing homes, elementary schools, cancer wards, and mental health facilities across the country. As someone who once struggled with both General Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder I know first hand the calming, meditative power of coloring a mandala. Meditation - Top 7 Conditions To Get Healed With Mind Power

By Raymond Geok Seng Lee

During the two decades since the relaxation response first appeared, mediation has gone mainstream. Most people who practice it do so to reduce stress, anxiety, anger and other negative emotions. But increasingly, physicians prescribe meditation as part of the treatment for a large and growing number of medical conditions. Here are some of the conditions that mediation can help.

1. Panic Attacks

Sometimes anxiety becomes paralyzing and people feel that they are about to suffer some horrible fate. Panic attacks are often treated with drugs, but studies show that if people who are prone to panic attacks begin focused, meditative breathing the instant they feel the first signs of an episode, they are less likely to have a full-blown panic attack.

2. Pain Management

Anxiety decreases the threshold for pain, and pain causes anxiety. The result is a vicious cycle. Compared with people who feel relaxed, those under stress experience pain more intensely and become even more stressed, which aggravates their pain. Meditation breaks this cycle. Childbirth preparation classes routinely teach pregnant women deep breathing exercises to minimize the pain and anxiety of labor. Few call it breath meditation, but that is what it is. Meditation may not eliminate pain, but it helps people cope more effectively. In a recent study at the Mind/Body Medical Institute, after people with chronic pain learned the relaxation response, their pain-related physician visits decreased 36 percent.

3. High Blood Pressure

Transcendental meditation (TM) reliably reduced blood pressure in meditators. In a study, the relaxation response was taught to 36 people with moderately elevated blood pressure. After several weeks of practice, their average blood pressure declined significantly, reducing their risk of stroke and heart attack.

4. Cancer

Cancer is very scary. Meditation and other approaches to deep relaxation help center people so they can figure out how they would like to handle the illness and proceed with life.

5. Respiratory Crises

Asthma, emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) all restrict breathing and raise fears of suffocation, which in turn makes breathing even more difficult. Studies show that when people with these respiratory conditions learn breath meditation, they have fewer respiratory crises.

6. Depression

Feelings of helplessness, hopelessness and isolation are hallmarks of depression - the nation's most prevalent mental health problem. Meditation increases self-confidence and feelings of connection to others. Studies have shown mood elevation in depressed people who regularly elicit the relaxation response.

7. Infertility

Couples dealing with infertility may become depressed, anxious and angry. To help them cope, relaxation response was taught to one group of infertile couples at the Mind/Body Institute. Compared with a similar group of infertile couples who did not learn deep relaxation, the meditators experienced less distress - and were more likely to get pregnant.
