Tantric Active Meditation

By Angelique Shofar

"The treasure is hidden within you as much as it was hidden in Buddha or Christ."

I am a Goddess! The very pronunciation of these 4 powerful words evoke and put light on the Goddess essence I embody. Sometimes I forget that I am a Goddess and my actions and words have me scrambling and struggling to become the Goddess I already am. I may get fixated on what I must do each day to ultimately gain the sensual shawl of a Deity. Again, I forget who I already am. The loss of conscious memory changes my entire world keeping me outside my true self.

The same concept applies to spirituality. It is commonly thought that spirituality is a difficult attainment. Yet it is neither difficult nor an attainment. According to Osho's Tantra philosophy, whatsoever you are, you are already spiritual. Nothing new is to be added to your being and nothing is to be discarded from your being. You are as perfect as possible. It is not that you are going to be perfect sometime in the future. It is not that you have to do something spectacular or incredible to be yourself. You are already there.

If spirituality is some attainment than of course it is going to be difficult - not only difficult but really impossible. If you are not already spiritual, you cannot be, you never can be, because how can one who is not spiritual be spiritual. If you are not divine already then there is no possibility, there is no way. No matter what effort you will make, effort made by one who is not already divine can not create divinity. If you are not divine, your effort can not create divinity. Then it is impossible.

And so this logically destructive cycle continues and humans are lost, confused and in the dark about life and living, being and existing. They are struggling and trying too hard, being tense and tight in the process, - living in the world of the mind. Ask them where they're going... they don't know!

I love how Osho puts it so simply in his manuscript of The Book of the Secrets. He reminds us that the ultimate is already the case. It is already here. No need to struggle to get a PhD or win a Pulitzer Prize or some distinguished award to attain. Simple techniques can help. It is no longer an attainment but instead - a discovery. It is hidden, and it is hidden in very very small things.

The personality is just like clothes. Your body is there but hidden behind the clothes you wear; in the same way your spirituality is here, hidden in certain clothes. These clothes are your personality that you put on. You can be naked physically and spiritually. But you do not know because you've been wearing and hiding behind those clothes for so long. You forgot how to be naked, how to see your true, raw beautiful and divine essence. You've been too busy covering up your real self. You have become the clothes you wear. That is the only barrier!!

We are already that which will be, which should be, which are to be. The future hides in the present. All possibilities are here in the moment as a seed. Only we need to take off our clothes, or break a foggy window in our house (the body) or a small surgical procedure may be required to remove the cataract in order to come into one's vision. Small efforts rather than big ones will reveal what lies hidden in the divine treasure you carry.

Yet we live in a very dramatic world. Glitters, psychedelic lights, huge TV & theater screens, heavy machinery, overwhelming technology, fast fuel injected cars, oil, diamonds, and the pursuit of money and material things. Gosh, having to measure up to all those big things can be pretty overtaxing and strenuous on any individual. Imagine thinking and believing that you have to do something so big, so grand, and so humongous to become spiritual or enlightened. That is a lot of pressure in itself. No wonder on one gets there. It's just not how energy and the law of nature work.

The way is small, no big effort or production is necessary, only small efforts, in fact, the smaller, the better. And effortlessly is even better. Why is it that the more one tries, the harder it is to attain? Like trying to get pregnant or trying hard to find a partner to settle down with and marry. Your very effort, your tension, your occupiedness, your longing, your expectation becomes the barrier. With a very small effort, an effortless effort as they call it in Zen - doing as if not doing - it happens quite easily! The more madness you apply, the less the possibility because one is using a sword where only a needle is required.

So you are asking if something is smaller how can a bigger step be possible. The concept is irrational and unscientific. Even science - with its limitations - knows that the smaller the particle the bigger the bang or the effect. What is an atomic bomb made of? Very small atoms! Who would have ever conceived before that era that 2 atomic explosions would completely wipe out two big cities in Japan - Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Two hundred thousand people were simply wiped out of existence in seconds. And what was the force used? An atom! The very smallest particle - blew up 2 cities. You can not see the atom. Not with your eyes, not by any means. It can not be seen with any instrument only the effects can be seen. Are you with me?

Tantra is concerned with the atomic secrets in the human being, in the human mind, in human consciousness. Tantra contains atomic secrets and atomic methods. If you can attain those methods, then results will be explosive, cosmic. The formula is small but the results are massive.

In my Tantric meditation - simple full body movements and simple isolated body part movements can bring about a big shift in one's energy field, in ones consciousness, in ones being, in ones life. It only took one sitting to feel the energy moving itself into a state of equilibrium. I only sat still and watched it happen like magic. It felt so good that I began to do it easily and effortless throughout the day. And I was excited to bring my son in on this. And with him, he immediately had a bowel movement. As the energy in me shifted from the upper quadrant of my shoulders, neck, facial muscles, my chest and heart became lighter and freer. That very day I got a stream of emails and messages inquiring about my serves and the opportunity to teach yoga classes. I was amazed, stunned and laughing my ass off! I remembered that I am already a Goddess!! I am in my Goddess state of being. Nothing more, nothing less! Now my fire is ignited and I am in motion again. Now I must share the secrets with you and keep spreading the Goddess love everywhere.

How to Clean the Aura Using Meditation

By Jack Chua Koon

We are not just physical but multi-dimensional beings. We consist of mental, emotional, astral and etheric layers.

Our human aura is like an illuminated egg if someone can perceive energy directly, the Mexican shaman Don Juan Matus mentioned in Carlos Castaneda's book - A Separate Reality, can perceive energy directly and he claims it looks like an illuminated egg with a votex of energy coming into the aura, the votex where the spiritual energy enter our aura is called the assemblage point.

There are 7 layers in our aura based on the chakras, but some says there are 12 chakras. When we use meditation and try to 'clean' it, we have to clean every layer. Many new age mystics just tell you imagine and visualize a white light coming down and engulfing your whole aura, this sometimes doesn't work well. I usually clean every layer as I go along. Start by doing some kind of relaxation procedure like counting 1 to 10 or say to yourself, upstairs, downstairs, over and over again until you feel bored and sleepy,or you can get some relaxation music to help you get to alpha or theta brain states. Once you done that, mentally say to yourself " I am at level 1' and move your awareness from head to toe or vice versa, the idea is to scan your level 1 for blockages, once you sense that something is there, move your awareness to it, it should 'melt' or disperse. If it is still there, try breathing it colors, you may have to experiment with the color that will remove the block, repeat the same procedure with all other level, eg. I am level 2, I am in Level 3, When you say this, you are telling your mind to adjust to the next level using intent, Intent is the force that changes the level. Some times if you are at level 1, and you sense something 1 feel in front of you and you cannot get it off, and you try the usual color breathing method, This could be due to the fact that this blockage is actually at some other level eg. Level 3 and you can usualy remove the block if you move your awareness to level 3. Sometimes when you move your awareness into the blockages, you get 'impression' like a past event or sometimes it plays like a movie in your mind's eye, this is usually the reason for the block.

You have to scan your aura like you are enclosed ina n egg, that means there could be blockage 2 feet in front of you in a certain layer.

Using brown color can help to ground yourself while using too much black color can cause depression.

According to Diana Cooper in her book Discover Atlantis, there are 12 chakras. There is a chakra below the feet that is called the Earth star chakra, then there is the Root chakra which is at the spine below, the sacral and naval chakra are both different chakras. The rest is usual, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, crown. after the crown chakra, there is a causal chakra which is at the back of our head. The soul star chakra which is above the crown and finally the stellar gateway chakra which is above the soul star.

Meditation for Women Who Do Too Much

By Susan Masters

Meditation can have different goals, roles, health effects and can come in various types - one of them is known as meditation for women who do too much. In today's world, when women are challenged to be career women, mothers and wives, all at the same time, meditation can be essential in a woman's life and can help her overcome daily problems, both professional and personal life-related problems.

How Can Meditation Help Women's Health?

There are numerous health benefits of meditation to be mentioned when talking about women's health and pregnancy, especially from a psychological and psychiatric point of view. For starters, women are predisposed to develop anxiety problems and even phobias and meditation is the one that manages to work as a calming technique and manages to solve a wide range of neuroses and fears. In addition, meditation helps women in the sense that it helps them overcome the daily stress and the tension that is caused by being, at the same time, a wife, a mother, a career women and a housekeeper - and such a complex woman needs the meditation for women who do too much.

Why Is Meditation Important to Modern Women?

Nowadays, women make extra efforts in order to deal with their daily duties and responsibilities. Since they have to function at multiple levels, women tend to become tired and exhausted. This extra solicitation implies more stress, more tension and more worries. But the fact is that there is a cure for tension, stress and worries and that is called meditation for women who do too much. Together with relaxation, meditation has the main role to calm women, to release the unwanted stresses and to focus on the positive things in life. In addition, meditation also improves the focus, the attention and concentration, three key elements that are essential when conducting daily duties, both in a personal and in a professional department. With the help of relaxation techniques and positive thinking, women can overcome their daily problems and manage to succeed with their tasks.

How Should Women Meditate?

Meditation for women who do too much is not limited to a specific technique or to a single method. As a matter of fact, women are advised to find that perfect relaxation and meditation method that brings the best results. Women can choose from active or "still" meditation, they can meditate while walking in the nature or while relaxing in the most comfortable armchair at home. For maximum efficiency, it is advisable to meditate in a silent environment, without being interrupted by children or by the telephone, in a space that can offer calmness and peace.

The most important technique of meditation for women who do too much refers to freeing the mind, while plentifully enjoying the calmness and the peaceful moments. Women who are modern and dynamic and who are overwhelmed by daily duties need this peaceful, silent meditation method most. A very important part of meditation for women is represented by the breathing exercises, since these do wonders for the women's mood and energy - today, many women are so busy that they even forget to breathe in the optimum way for their body and mind. Slow and long breaths with pauses are perfect in order to release the tension and to purify the organism.

Meditation for women who do too much has an essential role in a woman's life, health and general tonus. A few minutes every day can work as a true healing and relaxation exercise in order to deal with the daily responsibilities better and more efficiently.

Unusual Meditations Techniques You've Never Heard of

By Elise Lebeau

Meditation is a very personal thing. When my Empath and Intuitive skills went "live", I was overwhelmed with information and soooooooooooooo many people recommended meditation.

But I hated meditation...No kidding! Just sitting there, trying not to think of pink elephants. It was like a refined form of torture and, worst of all, oh so boring...

The answer came from one of my Spirit Guides one day. He suggested I try a mediation that involved watching movies. Huh? Does that count, I wondered... Since then, my guides have come up with all kinds of unusual meditation techniques that work for me, and now I love it.

Since I am an engineer, things make sense to me when they have a purpose. In my life, meditation is an processing activity, like a computer that needs some time to open up Word or to connect to the Internet. Computers also needs processing time when turning off, to cleanly organize all the new data that has been created.

When I meditate, I keep my left brain out of the way so that my right brain can process all the information I've been receiving (the right brain handles creative, intuitive and abstract data). When I'm done, my mind-computer is responsive again and I'm not just staring at the little hourglass, waiting for the processing to complete before I get my answer!

These are my two favorite meditations techniques. Try them out and feel free to tweak them! Remember that meditation is supposed to feel good.

The Movie Meditation:

1) Select a movie and set your intention to "meditate" while you are watching it.

2) As soon as you start watching, your brain will do what needs to be done to start processing. Even if you don't know what that involves, your brain does! Just like your brain knows how to keep your body functioning while you think of something else.

Movies are great because they keep your left brain busy, leaving the right brain free to go in processing mode. This is a lot easier than trying to turn down your left brain!

3) After the movie, take a moment to "reboot" your mind-computer. Do you get a message? What thoughts pop into your mind? This is a great time for profoundly creative ideas to come up so make sure you're listening! And take notes, if you feel so inclined! They'll be priceless!

The Cat Meditation

You know how some people take "cat naps"? A few minutes here and there and they're all refreshed! I've noticed that processing doesn't have to be done all at once in a gruesome 1 hour session. Your brain always knows where it left off processing and it can continue at any time!

The Cat Meditation is a series of very short meditations (and by short I mean that 5 seconds is enough!) that you can easily do without needing to stop the flow of your day. Over time, I have found that I was yearning for longer processing time without ever having to force it.

1) In the Cat Meditation, you're actually turning down your left brain for a brief period. This is different than the Movie Meditation, where you keep your left brain busy in order to facilitate processing. To do this, just imagine a blank screen in your mind. Like you're watching a movie screen but the movie hasn't started yet.

2) Keep it short! For most of us, it won't be long before you start seeing thing (or hearing things) on your blank screen. By then, your left brain has started being active again so you're done!
tip: If you can't keep the screen blank (it's ok, I had a hard time with that at first), try counting to 10. Your left brain might be more willing to stay quiet if you give it a little something to do at first.

3) Here are some great ways to practice this:- Do a Cat Meditation while reading a book each time you turn a page- Do a Cat Meditation while watching TV on the first commercial (mute the TV first!)- Do a Cat Meditation when you get in the car every morning- Do a Cat Meditation when you start to brush your teeth!

Enjoy!

Meditation For Spiritual Healing

By Dr Rebbie Straubing

You were born with the ability to transform the landscape of your life.

You have the ability to benefit from the challenges you are living and to advance even further toward the fulfillment of your desires because of them. With practice, your problems can become no more than springboards into greater satisfaction in your life.

Spiritual Healing creates results that would seem impossible through other methods. The list of possibilities is longer than I can fit in this small article. Here is a sample:

· Instantaneous relief from chronic pain.

· Financial recovery after difficult times.

· Finding a soul mate after years of loneliness.

· Harmony and respect in a previously conflicted relationship.

· Feeling at home in one's world after a sense of alienation.

· Feeling appreciated and valued after feeling judged and ignored.

These and more benefits can be yours and you don't need to buy anything nor seek the help of any other human being.

Methods

There are many methods for accessing spiritual healing. Within all spiritual traditions you will find esoteric teachings that can unlock this mystery for you. The meditation I describe below is simply one of many possibilities along the journey of self-healing. I offer it to you here in the spirit of love and service.

This is a very simple technique for the purpose of our brief encounter as you read this article. Simplicity is often the most potent ingredient in a healing formula, so please don't dismiss the power of this technique because of its brevity or because I offer it here for free. I expect you to get results when you follow these instructions and you can share this method with your loved ones who are suffering in any way.

Love-Light Meditation

1 - Sit Upright.

To those who currently may feel weak, ill, or disabled and must lie down, that is okay. Otherwise, please sit upright for best results.

2 - Invite the Divine Presence

Invite the Divine Presence (in whatever way is natural to you and your culture, religion, or tradition) to assist you in your healing.

3 - Love-Light

Imagine a beam of light running through your spine. Let that light be made of love. See that light extending infinitely above and below you. Allow it to align you with the center of the earth and the expanse of heaven. Feel yourself nurtured and taken care of by this love-light.

4 - Focused Light

Imagine a campfire or a sun in your belly made of this same light.

5 - Expanded Light

Let the light expand to include your whole body.

6 - Love-Light Replaces the Problem

Since a problem cannot live in the space of this love-light, imagine anything that you perceive as a problem pouring out of you. In your imagination you may see it come out of you through your breath or your pores or in any other imagined way. It may look like smoke being pressed out by the light. You may see it as a stream of viruses pouring out of an infected area leaving that area clean and pure. It may take the appearance of snakes or worms squirming away from the light. Do not get interested in the form it takes. Let it go completely and keep the love-light steady and glowing throughout the length of your body with a concentration at your navel. Feel the soothing and comforting nature of this light. Feel your entire body-mind-energy field refreshed, cleaned, beautified, and purified.

7 – Appreciation

When your session feels complete (a few minutes should be sufficient) give thanks to the Divine Source of this goodness and visualize a joyful outcome on this subject. Trust that your healing is underway.

Now, in your everyday life, begin to shift more of your attention to your joyful harmonious expressiveness (jhe) than to your problem. Speak less of your problem and more of the good that is coming your way. Feel it. Know it. Trust it.

Watch for solutions as they come to you through the attractive force of your love-light. They may come as inspired thoughts or as offerings from others. Acknowledge and appreciate any manifestations - even if they are small at first-of the fulfillment of your desire. Do not be bothered by how long it takes. With this simple daily practice you begin your spiritual healing and you advance your spiritual journey.

Dr. Rebbie Straubing practices a method of spiritual healing that helps people achieve profound physical, emotional, financial, and interpersonal healing. For more information about YOFA® spiritual healing sessions, please visit http://AdvancedSpiritualHealing.com.

The Mandala Cure: Releaving Anxiety through Meditation

By Michelle Normand

Whether you know it or not you are probably quite familiar with mandalas. If you have gazed upon a magnificent rose window adorning a local cathedral or spent time enjoying a fragrant spring daisy, then you have already been touched by the beauty of a mandala.

Sanskrit for sacred circle, mandalas are an ancient art form dating back to Tibet over 2,500 years ago. The Tibetan Monks saw the mandala as more than a circle divided into an ornate design, they saw it as a representation of the Universe; a blend of different symbols and colors coming together, bonded by its center, to form in harmony.

Look at the Christian’s usage of the labyrinth or marvel at the mandala healing ceremony performed by American Indians and you will find that the sacred circle has transcended its ancient roots. Many present-day religions and civilizations have come to view the mandala, with its gentle symmetry, as a symbol of the balance in nature, the unity within the world, and the harmony we all seek within our lives. Even the world renowned psychologist and founder of analytical psychology, Carl Jung was struck by the healing abilities of the mandala. Jung went on to write many papers about the subject and regularly used mandalas as a healing tool with his patients. Now this same restorative power is in your hands.

Coloring or creating mandalas is a simple process. Basically a form of active meditation, you suspend your inner dialogue while you draw images on a page or color a pre-made design. As with any form of active meditation you will be able to achieve the same calm, peaceful effects of traditional meditation without the difficulties of sitting still for hours at a time or trying to empty your racing mind. By meditating on a mandala, specifically the center of the design, a person can easily be drawn into the circle to find their focus, and most importantly keep that focus. Great for beginners or anyone short on time, mandala coloring books are a great way to introduce yourself to this healing process.

Coloring mandalas is a peaceful pastime used by a variety of peoples and institutions to heal the mind and the body. Today you will find mandala coloring and creation being used in nursing homes, elementary schools, cancer wards, and mental health facilities across the country. As someone who once struggled with both General Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder I know first hand the calming, meditative power of coloring a mandala. For free mandala downloads, go to my website at www.30minutemandalas.com and enjoy the power and simplicity of a mandala.

Michelle Normand is the author of the 30-Minute Mandalas coloring book series including her latest installment, 30-Minute Celtic Mandalas. For more information about Michelle or to download a free mandala coloring page, please visit www.30minutemandalas.com.

Put on your headphones & change the way you feel in minutes!

By Dimitri Papalexiou

There's a term in Buddhist law called 'The Monkey Mind' it is used mostly in relation to meditation. The monkey mind refers to your brains constant chatter and random jumping from place to place and thought to thought.

The idea behind meditation is to calm the monkey mind (not to actually kill it - Buddhists are against killing), and to connect with your higher self or the Universe. This can be hard to do with monkey always jumping about!

What's all this have to do with my article? Well.... The monkey mind affects just about everybody, and it is usually madly hopping about all day long. Many people believe that they little if any control over their minds, this is not the case!

Meditation, exercise, affirmations, positive-thinking and a good diet all affect your mind in a positive manner but, these are all slow methods. Wouldn't' it be great if you could just plug in your headphones and change the way you feel in minutes?

Good news folks, now you can. I have studied the mind and brain for many years (decades actually) and I love to learn, only problem was I felt that my feelings and emotions controlled me rather than me having any control over them (ever felt that way?).

I tried herbs, meditation (I do recommend every meditate, it's great stuff), positive thinking & self hypnosis. All of these things work to a degree but like most people I wanted a quick fix, "how can I get control of my brain right now?" I asked myself. (I really did ask that).

More study, more research and bingo - I hit the jackpot. I found something called Binaural Beat Technology or frequency following response! The principal behind this technology is relatively simple. You out on your headphones (you must wear headphones to get the required effect) and listen to special sounds.

With your headphones on certain frequencies are played into each ear. The reason for the headphones is because different frequencies are played into each side. Why? Because what you are trying to do here is change your actual brain waves. By playing different frequencies into each ear the brain automatically interprets the difference between the frequencies and adjusts your brain waves to that difference. i.e. If the left ear is presented with a steady tone of 495Hz and the right ear a steady tone of 505Hz, these two tones combine in the brain. The difference, 10Hz, is perceived by your brain.

This 10Hz is formed entirely by the brain. When using stereo headphones, the left and right sounds do not mix together until in your brain. The frequency difference, when perceived by brain this way, is called a binaural beat! Different frequencies cause different feelings or states. See below for the basic states;

State Frequency State of mind Delta 0.5-4Hz Deep sleep Theta 4-8Hz Drowsy (also first stage of sleep) Alpha 8-14Hz Relaxed but alert Beta 14-30Hz Highly alert and focused.

Your brain usually has more than one state happening at a time. The dominant state is the one that affects you the most. For example, if your brain is running mostly in the high beta state you may be alert, you also be a bit stressed-out, if you're mostly theta you are either in a great learning state or ready to nod off into la la land (sleepy time).

With Binaural Beat Technology (BBT) you can now (in just minutes) go from one state of mind to your most desired or required state. I use binaural beats to refresh my mind early in the morning - I am not a morning person and a quick blast of special Alpha frequency is like a mental cup of coffee. I also use BBT to deepen my meditation, sleep better and increase my learning capacity.

There are a few mind training software packages on the market, most are quite complicated to use, but worth the effort. With BBT you can also;

Increase your creative ability

Programme your mind to help you sleep better

Meditate like a pro in much less time

Reduce the effects of aging by reducing stress chemicals in your body

Relax and clam down quicker and easier

Reduce headaches and anxiety

Learn & study with better memory retention

Lessen mild depression (works for me)

Become more alert quickly & refresh your mind

plus much more!!!

I have not noted any side effects fro using this technology, and I have been using it daily for a year or so. Every day I find a new use for BBT. BBT should not be used to self medicate, if you have a medical problem see your Doctor.

My suggestion folks, go out and give this stuff a try! Remember, NO EXERCISE, NO PILLS, NO TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED (in most cases) AND RESULTS IN JUST MINUTES!

What BBT is not; it is not positive thinking, affirmations, subliminal programming or harmful in any way. This is just simple, powerful technology that anyone can use to get quick, easy, painless results. I think that's what we all want isn't it?

P.S. I haven't gone into great technical detail about BBT because I don't think it's required. This stuff works through sound (pun intended) scientific principals.

Dimitri has been marketing on the internet for a few years starting with physical products. Strangely enough his first items were magical charms and amulets, www.talismagick.com . His latest website is www.train-ur-brain.com . He found a way to get control of his mind & brain, now he can learn more & relax quicker. www.train-ur-brain.com

Mindful Meditation - Touching The Untouched Aspect Of Your Life

By David Barrett

Mindful meditation is all about being present in your life. It is a practice that helps you become truly proactive. Usually it has been found that human nature is reactive to everything. Everything we do is most of the times just a reaction of what we think or feel. It is very important for you to understand that because of this reactive nature, we always pursue an endless cycle of disappointment and conflict. We can convert this unhappiness and disappointment into an endless cycle of pleasure and peace by remaining neutral to our feelings and thoughts. This is what mindful meditation is all about. There is an aspect within us that remains untouched for most of our lives. This untouched aspect is spontaneous and awake. We can connect with this untouched aspect by practicing this form of meditation.

Filling Yourself With Positive Energy

It is not easy to achieve the magical power of mindfulness. It demands for constant and sincere practice. Mindful meditation is very much like any other form of meditation. The only difference is that you do not have to focus on something beautiful while you are keeping your eyes closed and reciting the meditation mantras. You have to achieve neutral feelings towards everything. Whatever thoughts come to your mind, you just let them enter. But, make sure that you have to be neutral towards these thoughts. It does not matter much whether they are good thoughts or bad, you have to give them the same level of attention. This way, the energy of your thoughts will get no feeding and you will be able to get in contact with that elusive untouched aspect of your life - the aspect that is spontaneous and widely awake. As soon as you get in contact with this aspect, your heart, mind and soul will get filled with a lot of positive energy.

The Benefits

There are virtually endless benefits of practicing this type of meditation. Let me share some of these benefits with you...

It breaks the vicious cycle of thought, feeling, and reaction.

You no more get attracted towards negative energy.

You no more try to outsmart the entire universe. You have learned to be humble. You have learnt the precious lessons of surrender and gratitude.

You experience an increased level of happiness and joy.

You experience enhanced acceptance, compassion and tolerance.

The feelings of resilience and relaxation are increased.

This type of meditation enhances your ability to control your feelings and personal responsibility in a much better way.

Your psychological well being is improved.

The level of anxiety in you gets decreased.

Any bad habit, such as substance abuse is reduced.

You will be happy to know that mindful meditation also brings several spiritual benefits for you. You will have a much greater conviction of the existence of a higher power. You will get to know about the meaning of your existence in this world, which is nothing but to spread happiness all around you.

Using Sounds For Increasing The Power Of The Mind

By Conrad Raw

The use of sound such as in the form of a guided meditation may be helpful because they generally 'guide' you through the steps of meditation with a speaker who uses a calm nearly monotone voice to facilitate a relaxed state. Other sounds could also be that of nature such as waves breaking against a shore, raindrops, a rushing stream or seagulls. By listening and focusing in on these nature sounds, we can find ourselves becoming more relaxed.

Other recorded sounds can be sounds that are meant to produce changes in brainwaves, not unlike the biofeedback machines used years before. In biofeedback training, people had to use bulky equipment, such as a head dress that wired you up to an electroencephalograph, a machine that measures brainwaves. The brainwaves were associated with certain sounds and while you attempt to change the waves, you knew you were successful by the sound heard, or the sounds were produced on a video monitor that allowed you to change the waves by watching. With new technology in the form of DVD's, CD's and tapes, all you need to do is to plug in earphones and listen.

With new technology, sounds can be used on CD's, tapes, MP3 players etc that will change your brainwaves without a lot of effort. These sounds are masked by music or some other sound that is heard on a conscious level, but the sound needed for changing brainwaves is relegated to the subconscious, which will help you to relax and change your behavior and positively enrich your life.

In other sound recordings, the tones used to affect brainwaves are subsonic, that is below the threshold of human hearing. These tones will coax the brainwaves from using beta waves, the waves associated with alertness to theta range, a more relaxed state. You may hear a low humming sound in the background, which are the tones used to affect brainwaves.

The term used for changing brainwaves by sound is brain synchronization, combining the use of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain to work in conjunction with each other.
As you relax and listen to these recordings, the brainwave activity will increase and become more coherent and you will be relaxed but alert.

Using sound for increasing brain function is not new. Pagan cultures often used sound to help to affect mood and induce a trance-like state by the use of music, drums or chanting.

The use of sound to find balance in your life can be achieved by the use of musical harmonics and certain sound frequencies. The use of affirmations in recordings has the effect of going directly to the subconscious which can help in reducing negative self talk and behavior.

Find the Meditation Techniques That Work Best For You

By Fred Field

Meditation may be unfamiliar to many people, but it's been around for over 5,000 years. Although it began as a type of religious ritual for the Buddhist, it has now become a method of well being and inner peace used and prescribed by many. The way meditation works is the person gives their entire attention to one thing and doesn't think about anything else. The goal of this it to relax and calm your mind. Of all the forms of tranquility and peace available (drugs, alcohol, love, etc.), meditation is the most long-lived and permanent.

Meditation as well as meditation techniques is actually an art of consciousness, where we are aware of only what we are concentrating on at the time. There are many different meditation techniques available. Although meditation is not yet referred to as a science, it is being researched more and more due to some positive results that have been proven in helping with physical problems. One such instance is brain scans showing that meditation change the way the brain is working and feeling. As of yet, this is still in research stages, but different medication techniques have been tried for many years with patients dealing with many stress-related ailments.

There are different meditation techniques, each with their own method and benefits. After you've been doing meditation, you will probably have tried a few different meditation techniques and have found one you like best. The classic setting method of meditation is probably the most effective for many people. Although some will choose to sit motionless for hours, others don't find this necessary. Your meditation should take place in a quiet room where there will be no disturbances. Many choose to sit cross-legged on the floor while others enjoy a recliner. Your eyes can be open, slightly open to allow a little light in or half open. If you choose to meditate with your eyes closed, make sure there is a light on in the room so light can get through your eyelids so your brain will remain alert. The purpose behind this is that when your eyes are closed, your brain begins to shut down and get ready for "sleep mode". For meditation to work, you should be relaxed like you are sleeping yet be fully awake.

Another method some like to use is the sit-stand methods, which has you sitting quietly for fifteen minutes, then standing for two minutes, sitting for fifteen and so forth for a total of 49 minutes. This method can be done three or four times each day. This method eliminates cramping of the legs, which many experience after sitting for a long time as well as teaching how to meditate in motion.

The use of a recliner also works very well for meditation. The chair should be reclined in a medium recline and your shoes and socks should be off. Many are able to meditate for up to two hours with recliner method technique.

Meditation - Top 7 Conditions To Get Healed With Mind Power

By Raymond Geok Seng Lee

During the two decades since the relaxation response first appeared, mediation has gone mainstream. Most people who practice it do so to reduce stress, anxiety, anger and other negative emotions. But increasingly, physicians prescribe meditation as part of the treatment for a large and growing number of medical conditions. Here are some of the conditions that mediation can help.

1. Panic Attacks

Sometimes anxiety becomes paralyzing and people feel that they are about to suffer some horrible fate. Panic attacks are often treated with drugs, but studies show that if people who are prone to panic attacks begin focused, meditative breathing the instant they feel the first signs of an episode, they are less likely to have a full-blown panic attack.

2. Pain Management

Anxiety decreases the threshold for pain, and pain causes anxiety. The result is a vicious cycle. Compared with people who feel relaxed, those under stress experience pain more intensely and become even more stressed, which aggravates their pain. Meditation breaks this cycle. Childbirth preparation classes routinely teach pregnant women deep breathing exercises to minimize the pain and anxiety of labor. Few call it breath meditation, but that is what it is. Meditation may not eliminate pain, but it helps people cope more effectively. In a recent study at the Mind/Body Medical Institute, after people with chronic pain learned the relaxation response, their pain-related physician visits decreased 36 percent.

3. High Blood Pressure

Transcendental meditation (TM) reliably reduced blood pressure in meditators. In a study, the relaxation response was taught to 36 people with moderately elevated blood pressure. After several weeks of practice, their average blood pressure declined significantly, reducing their risk of stroke and heart attack.

4. Cancer

Cancer is very scary. Meditation and other approaches to deep relaxation help center people so they can figure out how they would like to handle the illness and proceed with life.

5. Respiratory Crises

Asthma, emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) all restrict breathing and raise fears of suffocation, which in turn makes breathing even more difficult. Studies show that when people with these respiratory conditions learn breath meditation, they have fewer respiratory crises.

6. Depression

Feelings of helplessness, hopelessness and isolation are hallmarks of depression - the nation's most prevalent mental health problem. Meditation increases self-confidence and feelings of connection to others. Studies have shown mood elevation in depressed people who regularly elicit the relaxation response.

7. Infertility

Couples dealing with infertility may become depressed, anxious and angry. To help them cope, relaxation response was taught to one group of infertile couples at the Mind/Body Institute. Compared with a similar group of infertile couples who did not learn deep relaxation, the meditators experienced less distress - and were more likely to get pregnant.

How Much Time Should You Practice Daily Meditation For?

By Anmol Mehta

There is a famous story of a Kundalini Yoga Master who was desperate to increase the amount of time he spent doing his daily meditation practice. The story says that the Yogi nailed his pony tail to the wall so that when he would start to dose off, he would be rudely awakened by his contraption, and that this technique allowed him to successfully meditate for 22 hours daily. Are you ready for that? Luckily, 22 hours of daily meditation is not a prerequisite for spiritual growth or enlightenment, but the point of the story is that the ask is not cheap either. So how long should one meditate for daily?

Before we go into the numbers it is important to clarify exactly what type of meditation we are talking about here. There are many schools of meditation, each with their own techniques and methods. Here, we are referring to the meditations that are done being mostly physically still. So this would include zen meditation (zazen), vipassana, insight meditation, jyana yoga, the Silent Mind (SM) Meditations, and meditations that utilize an object for concentration (3rd eye meditation, mantra meditation, visualization, sound, trataka (candle flame gazing), 3 step rhythmic breath (3srb) meditation or similar variation of breath meditation, etc). The other types of meditations involving dance (shiva tandava - dance of death), Osho's meditations (kundalini, dynamic, etc), laya yoga meditations, and other such meditations have specific time requirements to work their magic and I am not referring to them in this discussion. So, now on to the numbers.

The minimum time one should aim to set aside for daily meditation is 20 minutes. Why 20 minutes of meditation? From my experience I can say that 20 minutes daily proved to be very effective. On its own everything just start to transform. Others, over time, have also probably found that this amount of time has worked well for bringing about positive changes in themselves and so the number has become the de facto standard for a starting practice.

The next stage is 30 minutes, 2 times daily. On my trip to Zen Mountain Monastery for their Zazen Training program, 30 minutes was the minimum time requirement for any zazen session. Also, interestingly at Zen Mountain Monastery, you could request to be struck with a cane on your shoulders (at special acupressure points) to help you stay awake, drain emotional junk out of your system or as an aid to go deeper. This is called keisaku and it can work as an alternative technique for you if you don't have long hair like our Yogi friend above. So work your way up to 30 minutes of meditation, and try to do that twice daily if possible.

Finally, you should build up to 1 hour of steady meditation practice everyday. For extracting the maximum benefit from a meditation program this is the golden number. To get to the experience of "Big Mind" as Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki describes the detached state, or the "Big Self" as described by the Advaita Vedanta teachers, or to get to the explosion of insight as put forth by J. Krishnamurti and the Silent Mind Meditations, 1 hour of meditation is usually needed. This is primarily because it takes some time for the thinking process to slow down and for us to extract ourselves out of the daily drama of our little egos. So there you have it. Start and aim for 20 minutes of daily meditation and then build up to 1 hour. You will find everything you are looking for, as you will discover that everything is you.

What To Do With a Guided Meditation Script? 15 Ideas and More

By John M. Allison

If you think that there's not much that you can do with a guided meditation script, think again. Here's a list of things you can do, and it's just the tip of the iceberg.

  • Relax at the end of the day.
  • Get your mind focused for the day.
  • Recuperate and restore your vitality.
  • Get in touch with and heal the past.
  • Project your desires into the future and plan your path through life.
  • Brainstorm ideas by stepping away from mental filters.
  • Sharpen your intuition.
  • Overcome a fear.
  • Become a more loving person.
  • Eliminate mental clutter.
  • Get some good, old-fashioned quiet time.
  • Reconnect with the Divine.
  • Study topics by interacting with them internally.
  • Branch out in new directions with newfound clarity.
  • Bring to the surface wanted character traits and reconcile unwanted ones.

As I said, it's just the tip of the iceberg. Your guided meditation script is limited only by your creativity.

One thing that I would like to suggest is that you not go overboard with lots of different meditations. Doing so tends to garble the message. I would suggest just doing one or two a day, preferably at morining and/or at night. If you write a whole bunch of different meditations and then run through them all in the same day it probably won't have as good a result as if you used just one guided meditation script per day, or maybe two.

One neat thing about writing your own script is that you can customize the imagery. You can do a guided meditation leading you up to an event, and then another meditation to help you resolve it afterwards.

As you can see, meditation doesn't have to be some obtrusive, annoying, do-it-because-you-have-to chore. Instead, if you find or write good ones, you can use a guided meditation script to enhance just about any aspect of your life.

Over time you may find that the practice of meditation blends into your practice of life. The benefits of meditation aren't limited to certain times, and a meditative mindset isn't limited to a practiced meditation technique. Instead you reach a point where you can access your resources at will, and find that your mind is much sharper and harder to put off balance. As with any skill, it is difficult to see it develop day-by day, but start of with a guided meditation script, and check back with yourself a month or two from now and see how you are doing. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

How To Manage Stress By Meditation

By Joe L Golson

The word meditation simply is defined as to be in a continuous contemplative thought or to simply just think about doing something. We all have different types of stress in our lives. Some of us our stressed out over a job, or maybe a relationship, or children, or if you are like most of us you are stressed over finances. Taking the time to meditate in your own relaxing way will help with the stress you are feeling. I have learned that worrying about what is stressing you will not help solve the situation that is upsetting you.

You may think that taking time out of your already busy life to meditate is ridiculous,But it is not ridiculous it will absolutely help calm your nerves which will help you relax enough to sit down and calmly work out the situation that is upsetting you.I found that I can relax and meditate by sitting and relaxing in a hot bubble bath.If you are worried about not having enough time to sit and relax in a hot tub maybe you can just go outside for a breath of fresh air and take time to just collect your thoughts. After everything has calmed down you can then take the time to take a hot relaxing bath.

If the kids are stressing you out you know how easy it can be to lose your temper with the kids. So things don't get out of control you can do breathing exercises to help meditate you. Let the kids go outside for a few minutes or maybe let them watch a movie or whatever they like to do within reason for a few minutes so that you can get your thoughts together when meditating.Breathe in and out slowly and take time to think about what options you have to control the situation that has upset you. With having to deal with our children, our jobs, our relationships, and our finances it's a wonder we all can even go on every day.

Find a way of meditation that will work for you and you will see that even if it's for only a few minutes that will be a few minutes you don't have to worry about things. If you don't want to go on the Internet to find ways to relax then go to your library in your town. There will be many, many books on relaxation by meditation. When you are in a place like the library you can actually just relax in that environment where it is quiet and relaxing. Get you 2 or 3 books and find the one that will help you the most.

You know you can also write down notes on the other books you have read. Maybe check out a couple of books that talk about different ways of meditating and write down the chapters that interest you the most. Even if you start out by just learning how to have peace of mind that is a very big accomplishment. After you have found peace of mind you can then start working on the daily things in your life that has left you feeling empty inside. Remember you can have the life you have dreamed of if you just take the time to learn ways to help you with relaxation techniques. You can find fulfillment in your life and defiantly make a difference in your life and the lives of others who feel the pressures of every day life.

Whether you find meditation and relaxation techniques through books, tapes,or even exercises you will find that when your life is free of every day stress you can then start to find solutions to the many different problems in your life in a calm peaceful way. You can go on line and find self help tapes about meditation. Do you want to just settle on a life that can make you miserable day after day? You may feel so empty inside that you feel as if you have no purpose in life.

You have to remember you are using your thoughts in your mind to meditate so you want to take the time to clear out all the negative feelings you have in your mind so that you can concentrate on how to improve your life and make a goal for yourself. Meditation can help. When you take the time to relax and really stop and think about things that are going on in your life you can also find that you are relaxed enough by meditating to find solutions to many different things you question in your life.

Meditation Techniques - Learn How To Perform Meditation

By Jitender Zaman

There are many different types of meditation and the techniques can vary from being very simple to being quite complex. The benefits of meditation can be great as many studies have been done outlining many of the potential health benefits from reduction in stress to less symptoms of disease. Here are a few different techniques to help you learn meditation.

Breathing Exercise:

This is a very simple technique and simply requires that you put your mental attention on your breathing. Simply turn your mental focus to your breathing as you breathe in and then out. Try to only think of your breathing, if you find other thoughts entering your mind then simply return your focus gently back on the breath.

Do this for five to ten minutes a day or whenever you feel you need to get rid of some tension and stress. Over time you will experience fewer distractions and you will be able to slip into that quiet frame of mind quicker and experience the peace and tranquility that it brings.

Guided Meditation:

This kind of meditation is usually accompanied by music usually sounds of nature or other non verbal music that is slow and gentle. It is also best to do this in a quiet room without any other kinds of distractions. You can light an incense that you like to help to relax you further.

Now focus on a pure space inside of your heart and see a light there. Then envision this light spreading slowly throughout your body and then see the light extending outside your body to the space around you. Maintain your focus on this light and avoid external thoughts. The idea is to get to that state of a quiet peaceful mind that is also potentially the least stressful and thus may offer great health benefits.

Chakra Meditation:

Chakra meditation is based on concentrating on the various energies that lie within us and by simply paying attention to different regions of our body we have the potential to get great health benefits in those particular regions. There are seven chakras that you need to learn when performing this type of meditation.

They are the root chakra, feeling chakra, personality chakra, heart chakra, throat chakra, knowledge and crown chakra. There are indeed a few things to learn so be patient and take your time to learn this type of meditation. When performing this type of meditation make sure that your focus is on one chakra at a time and you need to clear your thoughts.

You can also add some relaxing music to the background if you like and make sure that you are in a room that is free of distractions so be sure to turn the television or radio off. The main idea is to feel a connection with everything around you. There are many books and tapes written that can show you in detail how to do this type of meditation as it can get complex.

Zen Meditation:

Zen meditation is also defined as the study of the self. It is best to do this in a seated position called the burmese position. Make sure to keep the back straight as this will make deep breathing occur much more naturally. The deep breathing that occurs during this type of meditation can offer many health benefits as by introducing more oxygen into your system you help to cleanse and energy your body.

One of the things you do in zen meditation is to stay in the same position for fifteen to twenty minutes. This will help you to develop a quieter mind by restricting your physical movements. Often a scattered mind is what causes significant stress in the lives of many so learning to reduce your thoughts can be very stress relieving. Pick a meditation approach you feel comfortable with and learn all you can about it and most importantly do it on a regular basis to reap the benefits.

Practicing meditation can change your life. It will bring ultimate inner peace and happiness for you. However, in order to get the most out of your meditation efforts, it is important for you to follow the following meditation tips.

Breathing Is The Key

Breathing is one of the most important aspects of meditation. Therefore, when you start learning its various techniques, the first thing that you should learn is how to breathe properly while you are meditating. If you can successfully regulate your breathing, it will have a smooth effect on your meditation. Breathing and the peace of mind have close connections with each other. No Entry For New Thoughts

It is easier to say than to achieve it in practical. But one of the most important meditation tips is that you have to achieve a state of mind that should stop new thoughts from entering. It is an essential component of a successful meditation session. It is natural for our mind to pursue endless thoughts. You will have to learn to keep a check on that. Guided Meditation 101 - Pre-Meditation Preparation

By kelly Price

Meditation. What is it? It is not easy to put into words exactly, but more of an experience.

Meditation is that experience where one’s consciousness becomes engrossed and merged with the object of meditation.

If you are an absolute beginner and are interested in meditation, the guided meditation below is for you.

Pre-meditation Preparation

You will need a comfortable place to sit, and it must be absolutely quiet. If no such place exists in your home, you may try sitting in your car.

You must be comfortable, and you must have as little outside distractions as possible.

When you have found this quiet place, sit and try to rid the body of any stress and muscular tension.

This is done by the following exercise.

While you are doing it, someone with a calm voice should read it for you and guide you through the pre-meditation preparation.

Beginning with the toes on your left foot, tense the muscles in those toes for a count of three, then slowly release the tension in the toes, and feel a calm return to the toe area. Do the same with the toes on the right foot.

Next flex the muscles in the left foot for a count of three, then slowly release the tension in the foot. Feel the same relaxed feeling. Do the same with the right foot.

Now move to the calf of the left leg. Isolate the muscles in the calf and tense them to a count of three, then slowly release the tension in the calf. Do the same with the calf of the right leg.

Move to the thigh of the left leg, and repeat the tensing to a count of three, then slowly release the tension. Go the thigh of the right leg and do the same.

Now tense the pelvic area to a count of three, and slowly release the tension. Feel the calmness.Move to the small of the back. Tense it to a count of three and slowly release the tension.

Do the same with your lower abdomen. Tense the muscles there to a count of three ,and then slowly release all the tension.

Move on to your mid-back and lateral muscles. Tense them all to a count of three and slowly release the tension, feeling the calm return.

Go to your chest muscles and tense them all, slowly to a count of three, then slowly release all the tension there, feeling the calm return.

Now tense the muscles of your shoulders to a count of three, then slowly release the tension feeling a peaceful and calmness there.

The same is now done with your neck. Slowly to a count of three tense the neck and slowly release all the tension there.

Now go to the left arm, and tense it up to the wrist to a count of three. Slowly release the tension then in the left arm.

The same now with the right arm, tensing to the wrist up to a count of three, then releasing all tension.

Now clench the left hand, tension the whole hand to a count of three, then slowly releasing the tension.

Do the same now with the right hand, tensing to a count of three and then releasing all tension feeling the calm.

We finish now with a general tension of the face muscles to a count of three, and slowly release all the tension there.

Now sit in quiet for a moment, and we will begin the guided meditation.

How to Meditate

By Juliet Cohen
